Dental Headrests and
Ergonomic Positioning

MediPosture memory foam dental chair headrests are designed to improve patient neck comfort and optimize head-positioning in dental chairs.

When seeking quality dental chair headrests, there are many factors to consider about the design of the cushion. Some of these include, the headrest shape, thickness, memory foam density and field-tested features that perform in the dental operatory. Choose MediPosture dental chair headrests so you can be assured that you’re receiving the best quality and performance. All of our dental chair headrests are made in Minnesota by people who care.

MEDIPOSTURE DENTAL CHAIR HEADRESTS ARE SHAPED FOR COMFORT AND PROPER ERGONOMIC HEAD-POSITIONING

The primary goal of a memory foam dental headrest is to comfortably fill the unsupported void between the patient’s neck and the dental chair. Secondly, the dental headrest should be shaped to simulate or enhance the motion of an articulating dental chair. The shape is what helps to properly set the position of the occlusal plane at 15-20 degrees for greater access to the oral cavity.

THE DENTAL HEADREST SHAPE IMPACTS PERFORMANCE.

MediPosture dental chair headrests feature a slope-shape that delivers proper head-positioning by gently “tilting” the patient’s head backward. Patients receive full neck support to the cervical spine, while dentists benefit from the improved head-positioning. Our headrests are sloped so that the occlusal plane of patients can be correctly set at 15-20 degrees.

HIGHER MEMORY FOAM DENSITY IS WHAT DELIVERS PATIENT NECK SUPPORT.

Those who shop dental chair headrests probably know that viscoelastic memory foam was designed by NASA in the 1960’s. Since then, it’s been used in the manufacturing of cushions, pillows, mattresses and even dental chair headrests. Manufacturers traditionally use it for it for comfort applications and its instant marketing recognition. Dentists who choose to compare memory foam dental chair headrests or dental patient neck pillows, should be aware that not all memory foam neck cushions will perform equally.

MediPosture dental chair headrests are built using higher-density memory foam than other headrests. What many may not know, is that memory foam was never intended to be used as a supportive foam – it reacts, but does not push back. The way to build a dental headrest with greater neck support, is to use better quality foam with a denser, tighter cellular structure. This greater density allows the dental headrest to be more resistant to “flattening” once the patients head is reclined in the dental chair. The result is greater neck support for the patient and proper head-positioning that will protect chair side working posture.

MEDIPOSTURE CLASSIC DENTAL HEADREST CUSHIONS ARE DESIGNED FOR COMFORT

MediPosture offers two different series of dental chair headrests. We recommend the CLASSIC series for those who prefer a super-soft, memory foam dental headrest. This dental headrest features a premium, 5-pound high-density memory foam insert that offers more neck support than other headrests in the industry.

MEDIPOSTURE ICORE DENTAL HEADREST CUSHIONS OFFER SUPERIOR COMFORT AND HEAD-POSITIONING CONTROL

For dental professionals seeking the ultimate in patient comfort and ergonomic head-positioning control, MediPosture recommends the ICORE series of dental chair headrests. These headrests offer greater resistance to cushion distortion by using ICORE Technology, combined with a premium 6-pound density memory foam that offers the most support of any dental headrest.

ICORE Technology is a stiff-foam core that is built into the memory foam headrest for added support. The core rests hidden inside the cushion, just below the patient’s neck. This helps to ensure the natural curvature of the cervical spine is fully supported for maximum comfort and ergonomic head-positioning.

A GUIDE TO SELECTING THE CORRECT DENTAL HEADREST

All MediPosture dental cushions will accommodate variations in patient size when properly matched to articulating or flat-headrest i.e. “pull-out” style chairs.

3.5-inch Dental Headrest:

At 3.5” thick, this slim-profile Memory Foam dental headrest is highly suggested for articulating dental chairs, as thicker headrests tend to create too much bulk for patients and impede proper head positioning. Most versatile cushion and fits Children, Adults and Geriatric patients.

Measures: 8”L x 6.25”W x 3.5”H

4-inch Dental Headrest:

A 4” version of the above cushion that simulates the dual-articulating headrest function of newer dental chairs. An inexpensive way to enhance chair-side ergonomics and patient comfort. Primarily recommended for Adults and Geriatric patients.

Measures: 8”L x 6.25”W x 4”H

6-inch Geriatric Dental Headrest:

This 6” thick geriatric dental headrest is the compassionate and wise-choice for dental operators who treat patients who suffer from severe Osteoarthritis of the spine. The added thickness helps minimize the void between the patient’s neck and dental chair. This also helps to improve chair side ergonomic working posture. Recommended for geriatric patients only.

Measures: 9”L x 6.25”W x 6”H

2.75-inch Kiddie Dental Headrest:

At 2.75” thick, this petite-sized headrest is a perfect accompaniment to our Child Booster chair, as it reproduces the head-positioning effect of a dual-articulating dental chair when the chair’s headrest can’t be reached. Manufactured with 4lb. Memory Foam.

MEDIPOSTURE DENTAL CHAIR HEADRESTS TO MATCH YOUR DENTAL CHAIR

3.5″ DENTAL HEADREST:

The experts at MediPosture make it easy to select a headrest that properly matches the furniture of your existing dental chair. For those dental chairs that feature an articulating headrest, we recommend a low-profile, 3.5-inch thick memory foam dental headrest. Experience has shown that thicker headrests on articulating dental chairs can have a negative effect. Too much neck cushion on an articulating dental chair will tend to point the patient’s chin toward the chest.

4″ DENTAL HEADREST:

Those dental practices that still use flat-style dental chairs with “pull-out” headrests find maximum benefit when choosing 4-inch thick dental chair headrests. MediPosture headrests have greater resistance to distortion, so dental professionals can take advantage of the slope-shape that simulates the effect of an articulating dental chair. Patients receive full neck support and dentists get safer chair side posture.

6″ DENTAL HEADREST:

MediPosture also offers geriatric memory foam dental chair headrests in a 6-inch thick configuration for patients who suffer from osteoarthritis and can’t recline their head to rest on the dental chair. Adding a geriatric memory foam headrest helps to fill the void between the patient’s neck and the dental chair. This is compassionate and also helps dental operators position the patient so that healthy, ergonomic work angles can be maximized.
